Things keep going wrong in little ways, but they end up affecting the pace in dramatic ways. The weather has not been cooperating and today I realized that one of the fence posts was slightly blocking an electrical meter. Half a day was shot trying to find out the regulations regarding meters. I was ready to give up and just leave it the way it was when I looked up and saw a meter reading driving by. I flagged him down and he was able to provide some insight into the situation. It seems that even if the meter reader can have full sight access if the meter is obstructed in any way during an emergency, say if there is a fire and the fire department needs to remove the meter, if there is an obstruction, they will simply tear it down (I’ve known firemen and they do love the chance to hook the winch up to things and drag them away!) The thought of the fence that I have labored over being ripped from the ground and dragged off the curb was more than a little disturbing. So I ended up developing a new strategy for the fence and cut a foot off of the top of the offending posts. By the time that little drama was over the thunderheads were stacked up on the horizon and the wind was picking up speed. A storm that had been threatening all day was now in position to unleash on our house any minute. That ended …
